Kuon Metronome

A free metronome, in your browser. Nothing to install, nothing that drifts.

No sign-up. It sounds the moment you open it. Each beat is scheduled ahead against the audio clock, so it does not drift as time passes.

Silent bar practice, speed trainer, polyrhythm, swing, irregular meter grouping, metric modulation, clave patterns, beat displacement, over-the-barline, all 13 features a pro actually needs. Browser-based, free.

The problem with existing metronomes

01

"Just plays clicks", can't train you to internalize tempo

02

No irregular meter practice. 5/8, 7/8 and 11/8 unsupported

03

No polyrhythm training available

04

Metric modulation training doesn't exist

05

Can't play clave or jazz patterns alongside

Why this metronome is different

Most metronome apps are built by developers. Developers can write code, but they don't know what's needed in the practice room. Silent bar practice, polyrhythm, metric modulation, clave patterns, every feature of KUON METRONOME comes from real practice needs.

Core

Core. Nine professional tools

01

Silent Bar Practice

Play N bars, then N bars silent. Drift on return reveals internal pulse accuracy.

02

Speed Trainer

Auto-accelerate from start to target BPM every N bars.

03

Polyrhythm

4:3, 3:2, 5:4, two rhythms in different timbres simultaneously.

04

Irregular Meter Grouping

7/8 as 2+2+3 or 3+2+2. Full support for 5/8 through 12/8.

05

Swing

50% (straight) to 75% (full triplet) continuously adjustable.

06

Subdivisions

Eighth notes through septuplets. Off-beats at distinct volume.

07

Accent Pattern

4 levels per beat (strong/medium/weak/mute). Click to change.

08

Tuning Reference

A=440-443Hz sine wave alongside the metronome.

09

Presets

Save BPM, time sig, subdivision and accents as one set. Recall in one tap.

Jazz Training

Jazz Training. Four training features

No other browser metronome offers these features.

JAZZ 01

Metric Modulation

♩=♩. (tempo×2/3), triplet ♩=new ♩ (×3/2), ♩=♪ (×2), quintuplet modulation, 4/4→3/4→4/4 chain, tempo transitions based on beat equivalence, auto-played as multi-bar sequences. 5 built-in presets with loop support. The most advanced jazz/modern music training, in a browser.

JAZZ 02

World Rhythms

Son, Rumba and Bossa Nova claves, Shiko, Soukous, Gahu, Bembé (12/8 standard bell), Tresillo, Cinquillo, Habanera, Jazz Ride on a true triplet grid, Middle Eastern iqa‘at (Maqsum, Baladi, Saidi, Malfuf, Ayyub), Balkan dances (Rachenitsa, Kopanitsa...), Hindustani talas (Tintal...), a curated library of source-verified rhythms only, played alongside the metronome with dot visualization.

JAZZ 03

Beat Displacement

Shift accent by 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, or 1/4 note. A displaced click sounds alongside the normal click. Practice phrasing on the "shifted downbeat", the most essential rhythm technique in jazz improvisation.

JAZZ 04

Over the Barline

Accent every 3 beats in 4/4 → completes in 4 bars. Every 5 → 5 bars. Every 7 → 7 bars (Coltrane-style float). 4 over 3/4 overlays 4-feel on a waltz. Cross-barline accents engrave jazz phrasing "float" into your body.

Millisecond-level Precision

JavaScript's setInterval has ±10ms jitter, unacceptable for musicians. KUON METRONOME uses Web Audio API's AudioContext.currentTime with look-ahead scheduling. Sample-accurate timing that professionals can trust.

FAQ

Why does a metronome drift?

Usually because the click is triggered by the screen timer, which can be pushed around by other work and drift by tens of milliseconds, and that adds up. The Kuon metronome schedules each beat ahead of time against the audio clock itself, so the moment a click sounds does not move even when the page is busy.

Is it really free? Do I need an account?

It is free. No account, no login. It sounds the moment you open it, and there are no ads.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Just open it in a browser. It works the same on a phone and on the practice-room computer. Add it to your home screen and it opens in one tap next time.

Can I practise odd meters and polyrhythms?

Yes. You can build any meter. It also includes stacking two pulses at once, muting bars so you check your own time, and stepping the tempo up gradually.

Can I set the tempo by number?

Yes. Type the number directly, nudge it with the arrow keys, or tap along with the music to set it.

The Rhythms of the World

Cuban clave, Arabic iqa, Balkan aksak, Indian tala. Twenty-eight patterns verified against the literature down to every stroke, all playable on the page, with interval vectors and the rotations that connect one tradition to another.
