How to use it

Is this browser metronome free

It is free with no sign-up and no install. You can add it to your home screen and it opens full screen from the icon.

Does the beat drift

No. Each click is scheduled ahead of time, so it does not depend on what the screen is doing. Metronomes built on a repeating timer can wander by tens of milliseconds.

Can I practise irregular meters

Yes. 5/8, 7/8, 9/8 and 11/8 are supported and you can set the grouping yourself, so 7/8 can be 2+2+3 or 3+2+2.

What are metric modulation and clave

Metric modulation is practice in changing tempo by equivalence, for example treating a quarter note as a triplet. Clave is the core Afro-Cuban rhythmic pattern that underpins jazz and Latin music.

Do I need a connection

No. The sound is generated inside the browser. It uses no storage either.

Is there a tuner as well

Yes. A tuner with reference pitch 415 to 443 Hz, transposing instruments and a choice of equal or just temperament opens the same way, with no sign-up.
